An auto mechanic is a mechnic with a variety ofautomobile skills in a specific area or in a specific brand of automobile. In repairing cars, their main role is to diagnose the problem accurately and quickly. They have to quote prices for their customers before work or after partial dies-assembly and inspection. The mechanic uses electronic means of gathering data as well as knowledge learned through experience. This can involve the repair of a specific part or the replacement of one or more parts. Basic vehicle maintenance, upkeep, and repair, are all part of a mechanic's work, but most are only looked into when a vehicle is already showing signs of a problem. Preventative maintenance is also a key part the job, but this is not possible in most cases, because no one is willing to show up and pay for their car to get serviced.
Lately an increase in technology has evolved a mechanics job from mechanical, to also include electronic technology. Late model Vehicles have on-board computer systems and electronic sensors, so mechanics have had to learn how need to have a broader range of knowledge than in the past. Most car dealerships and shops now have diagnostic computers that are used to see what is wrong with the vehicle.
