The Chico Outlaws competed against the Orange County Flyers. At the start it took them a while to break the tie of 0/0. Eventually, the Flyers advanced a few points and broke the tie. At that point the Outlaws seemed more like the underdogs of the game, but the tide quickly shifted when a few of the Outlaw team members made some home runs. At the end the game, the Outlaws won 15/6 - unfortunately, the Upward Bounders didn't get to see this resounding victory due to the curfew being 9:30pm - but there's always next year.
On the night of June 23, all the Upward Bounders were allowed to go to the outlaws game. Each Upward Bound Student was given $10 in order to buy food from the stadium by their residential advisors. However, we went to the the event at about 5:30pm which is two hours from the actual event so it was a bit hot and sunny at the start. Worse yet, we sat on unshaded bleachers until the event started - but the stadium did offer beverages for fairly reasonable prices.
When the game started at 7:30pm, it started to cool down a little bit, but not much. However, I got to cheer along with my Upward Bound family regardless of the the climate conditions. What truly made me enjoy this event is the acknowledgment that I belong to the Upward Bound family.
